Children, Teens & Family

When minors are involved in therapy, Rebecca’s focus is on helping the child build in relationship to themself and strengthening the family-unit. Rebecca does not do traditional play therapy, but instead focus on skill building through semi-directed art and play. Rebecca collaborates with parents to build a trusting working relationship, history gathering and be able to mirror language used at home for consistency. Rebecca works collaboratively to brainstorm the benefits and barriers to change and how she and caregivers might strategize as a team. HER work often begins with building or filling in gaps in emotional vocabulary and somatic awareness. Psychoeducation and skill building through play is a large piece of what she does. For children, caregivers join most sessions for the last 10-15mins while parents/caregivers of teens, most often, join a session or partial session every 5-8 weeks, on average.

Rebecca has a variety of tools in office that have been thoughtfully selected for all neurotypes, ways of learning and functioning. However, no two minds are alike so kids (and adults) get to explore various tools and their efficacy on their goals.
